Auditions

Stringwood is open to advanced string players ages 12-19. Acceptance is based on a successful audition that demonstrates applicants' variety of musical and technical skills and knowledge of style and interpretion. Level of repertoire and chamber music experience are taken into consideration when forming ensembles.

Program Cost:

Application Fee : $50/$75
(a separate, non-refundable fee)

Tuition, plus Room & Board: $1450
Upon acceptance, the total cost of $1500/$1525 includes ten chamber music coachings, all masterclasses and special guest presentations, one private lesson, all recreation activities including bike rentals and transportation costs to events, as well as all meals, snacks, and air-conditioned lodging with private bath for the entire two weeks. Extra private lessons are available at additional cost.

Students should also plan to pay for the coin-operated laundry, located in the Eagle Bluff dorm, the Eagle Bluff gift-shop, the Whalen Pie Shoppe, and any personal shopping in Lanesboro or on tour.

Financial Aid

Stringwood keeps its tuition and fees well below that of similar programs across the country. Therefore, scholarships are granted to outstanding students on a need-only basis, upon request and following confirmation of need.

Directions to Campus

Stringwood at the Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center is located 127 miles south of the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, 57 miles west of the La Crosse Municipal Airport, and 45 miles south of the Rochester Municipal Airport.
