Artaria centers on string quartet performance and education in Minnesota. It is committed to presenting inspiring live performances, to mentoring string players of all ages, and to illuminating the world's great repertoire of chamber music to a broad audience.

Stringwood Summer Chamber Music Festival is an intensive program and acceptance into it is competitive. Careful preparation with guidance from your private teacher is essential for a successful audition. If you have a question about your application process, call us at 651-587-7595.

Stringwood Young Artists, ages 12-22, come from dedicated studios all across the country. Students are selected based on the applicant's ability to demonstrate a variety of musical and technical skills and knowledge of style and interpretation. Level of repertoire and previous chamber music experience are taken into consideration when creating groups.

TO APPLY (High School)

Admission to Stringwood is by audition accompanied by a letter of recommendation from your private teacher. When you have your video files and recommendation letter ready, proceed to the website. Please note there is a non-refundable $30 application fee.

Complete all required application information and upload the following items to the website:

1. Unedited video recording of (2) three-octave scales (one major and one minor).

2. Unedited video recording of a movement from a standard concerto or unaccompanied Bach.

3. Unedited video recording chamber music excerpts.*

4. A recommendation letter from your private teacher. *(Note: returning Stringwood students and current ACMS members do not need to submit chamber music excerpts)


TO APPLY (College)

Stringwood accepts 8-12 college age string players for in-depth mentoring with Stringwood faculty and guest artists. College students have a wider range of opportunities for performance, more freedom on campus, and are held firmly accountable as performers and participants, acting as leaders and role models for the high school young artists. Admission to to the College Program is by audition/interview. Contact Executive Director, Ray Shows by email or call 651-587-7595.


Application Fee is $30. 


Stringwood's 3-week program is $3000 for tuition, room and board. Upon acceptance, a non-refundable deposit of $1000 is due. Final tuition must be paid by May 15, 2020. Payments may be made online (see buttons) or by check. Make payable to:
