APPLICATION

 

How do I apply to Stringwood?
Stringwood accepts applications from high school and college age violinists, violists, and cellists ages 12-22. Proceed to the
getacceptd.com website to apply. 

 

When are the applications due? When can I expect to hear if I'm accepted?
Applications are now due by May 01. Students will be notified by June 1
.

Is there a waiting list?

Early applications are given priority in Stringwood ensembles as we build groups based on ability and experience. Any qualified applicant whom we cannot properly fit into a group is placed on a "waitlist" while we receive ongoing applications.

 

FINANCIAL

How do I make tuition payments?

All tuition payments can be made by credit card online at this website or with a personal check. If you would like to send a check, contact the Artistic Administrator.

What is included in the cost of tuition? What is not included?

Tuition, Room, and Board for Stringwood is $2800 inclusive. There are no additional program costs.

 

How much should I bring for personal expenses?

Stringwood provides room and board to participants. There are three concert tours  and on these trips you may choose to purchase personal items. The laundry facilities are free. 

 

Are there scholarships available?

Scholarships are available and are awarded to select applicants based on demonstrated financial need and Stringwood program requirements. Stringwood tuition is below the national average in order to make our program affordable.

 

Will you accept my outside scholarship funds?

Yes, we accept outside scholarships and funding toward Stringwood tuition.

 

How soon do I have to pay?

As soon as you have been accepted to Stringwood, a non-refundable deposit of $1000 is due. Final tuition must be paid one month prior to program start date.

 

TRAVEL

 

Where is Stringwood located? Is there a recommended airport to fly into?

Stringwood is located on eighty acres of pristine woodlands near Lanesboro in SE Minnesota. The physical address is:

There are three airports to choose from when selecting an airline: Rochester, MN; La Crosse, WI; and MPLS/St Paul International. Whichever airport you choose, we will send a representative to drive you to Lanesboro.

 

Will my cell phone work at Stringwood?
All major mobile phone services work at Stringwood.  

 

What should I expect the weather to be like?

Beautiful! It can be cool at night and warm during the day, so bring appropriate clothing to stay comfortable. All buildings on campus are air-conditioned and temperature controlled.

 

Can I arrive Early? Late?

You can arrive early; however, you will be personally and financially responsible for providing accommodations outside the festival dates. To get the most out of your experience we recommend you arrive on the program’s start date. However, if you have extenuating circumstances, contact the Artistic Administrator. We will do our best to accommodate late arrivals.

 

FESTIVAL

 

What is proper Performance attire?

  • black dress pants or long skirt, multiple concert shirts (one black), dress collar or scoop neckline, necktie or bow tie, belt, dress shoes or dressy sandals

 

When and where are the performances? Are they open to the general public?

There are six scheduled Young Artist concert performances during Stringwood. Locations and times can be found at the YA Concerts webpage. All Young Artist events are free and open to the public.

 

How much free time is there?

The daily schedule is designed to maximize your practice time, group rehearsals and coaching, and masterclasses, combined with sufficient personal time, group socializing, and diverse outdoor activities.

 

Will bedding and towels be provided? Where are the showers?

Eagle Bluff does not provide linens. You must bring your sleeping bag, pillow and towels. Private bathrooms and showers are in each dorm room suite.

 

Are meals included? What accommodations are available for my dietary restrictions?

Yes! All meals are included in your Stringwood tuition payment. Our required health form will ask if you have any dietary restrictions, and we will arrange for a delicious variety of meals with the chef and kitchen staff based on your dietary needs.
